Yes, I'm still drawing COPIES, but I wanted to talk about Markers because... why not?
Now this is just MY opinion and MINE alone XD~~ I haven't used alllll marker brands of the world @___@; so I'll just write what I've personally used.
If you have any questions about markers, not like i know everything
TOP 3 MARKERS
1. Staedtler Mars Graphic 3000 Duo Watercolor Brush Markers - *whew* What a long name XD~~ I got these about 7 years ago when I was JUST starting to color my art. (I rarely colored my art) Anyway, at the store they sold them individually and about $2.79(?)/ea. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this marker!
THE GOOD: I love how the strokes look on your paper (excellent color payoff). I love the brushtip (it's a duo ended marker). It's firm but very flexible and I must say that I like this brushtip MORE than the COPIC SKETCH markers. These markers create a watercolor-type look when you use them. Which is good because I always want my art to look watercolored (but I suck at ACTUAL watercolors
THE BAD: The bad things about these markers are: they don't have a variety of colors, it takes longer to dry (like the TOMBOW markers), and they're hard to find. I've used a TOMBOW blender to blend the colors and it works well with it.
WHERE?: I just RECENTLY found them on dickblick --> [link]
LIFE?:Oh, also ...as I've said, I've had this for years and use it quite often (I only have 5 of them and they're used OFTEN!) and only ONE has JUST started to die on me.
2. DELETER NEOPIKO MARKERS - I think a lot of people will be shocked to see that COPICs are NOT my #1 fave
THE GOOD: Neopikos are great because they have more of a watercolor effect than COPICs. They come in a variety of colors, but NOT as much as COPIC. Great color payoff and blends very well
THE BAD: STINKY MARKERS -_-;;; I don't know if markers expire or not but I had one marker that was about to die and it smelled like rancid vinegar (LOL). As for regular STENCH, it doesn't have a sharp alcohol smell like COPIC/Prismacolor/Tria. And I DO talk about the odor because I've got a sensitive nose... Anyway! Unlike the COPICs, Neopiko markers AREN'T refillable and have a smaller color selection than COPIC. The brushtip falls off and frays a bit -_-; if you've used it too much
LIFE?: BAHHH!!!! As much as I love these markers their life SUCKS out of ALL the markers I've ever used ;( While, in MY opinion, the quality is better than COPIC... the lifespan SUCKS MAJOR ASS!!!
WHERE?: Ebay
3. COPIC - I wonder if I really have to write about COPIC since a lot of people know about COPIC
THE GOOD: Different types of COPIC markers. Refillable ink and nibs, easy to blend, HUGE color selection
THE BAD: Expensive ;_; (but if you think about it, if you buy the refillable ink... it's cheaper than just buying new markers all the time) Kind of smelly
LIFE?: COPICs have a great life
WHERE?: ebay, google it
PLEASE NOTE
I have used Prismacolor markers, Tombow markers, Crayola markers (LOL), LePlume, FaberCastell Pitt Brush Pens, Marvy Brush Markers, etc. (I can't think of any more off the top of my head
